Text-to-Donate

Text-to-Donate makes it easy for donors to reach one of your DonorDock Giving Pages by sending a keyword to your organization's DonorDock Text Number.

How Text-to-Donate Works

1. A donor texts a configured keyword to your DonorDock Text Number.

2. DonorDock matches the keyword with a Giving Page.

3. DonorDock sends the Giving Page's automatic response.

4. The Giving Page URL is added to the response.

5. The donor selects the link and completes their gift.

For example:

Donor texts: GIVE

DonorDock replies: Thank you for supporting our mission! You can make your gift here: [Giving Page URL]

The Giving Page URL is automatically added to the response.

Text-to-Donate keywords can be shared through:

• Events

• Direct mail

• Email

• Social media

• Presentations

• Posters and signage

• Printed fundraising materials

Set Up Text-to-Donate on a Giving Page

1. Navigate to Online Giving.

2. Locate the Giving Page you want to update.

3. Click the pen icon to edit the Giving Page.

4. Expand Text-to-Donate Settings.

5. Enter your keyword.

6. Enter the automatic response message.

7. Click Save.

Keywords must be between 3 and 50 characters.

Choose something that is:

• Short

• Easy to type

• Easy to remember

• Closely related to your organization, campaign, or program

Examples might include: GIVE, SCHOLARSHIP, NEW HORIZONS

Keywords are not case-sensitive. For example, GIVE, Give, and give are treated the same.

However, the keyword itself must match exactly.

If the keyword is: DONATE, a donor texting DONATION or DONATE NOW will not trigger the automatic Giving Page response.

The incoming text will still appear in the organization's text conversation history.

Create the Automatic Response

The response message is sent automatically after the donor texts the matching keyword.

You do not need to manually add the Giving Page URL. DonorDock automatically places the link at the end of the response.

A character counter appears in the response editor to help estimate message length and Text Credit usage.

💡 Keeping the response brief can help reduce the number of Text Credits used for each Text-to-Donate interaction.

Share Your Text-to-Donate Information

To copy the keyword and phone number:

1. Navigate to Online Giving.

2. Edit the applicable Giving Page.

3. Use Copy Keyword to copy the Giving Page keyword.

4. Use Copy Phone to copy your organization's DonorDock Text Number.

You can then place the keyword and phone number in digital or printed fundraising materials.

💡 Text-to-Donate does not automatically process a donation. When a contact texts your keyword, DonorDock sends an automatic reply with the Giving Page link. The donor must open the link and complete the donation through the Giving Page.
