Share and Embed Online Giving Forms
Once an Online Giving Form has been published, DonorDock provides several ways to share it with donors. You can distribute the same Giving Page via a direct link, QR code, Text-to-Donate keyword, or by embedding it directly on your organization’s website.
The "Sharing" section appears near the top of the Giving Page settings after the page has been published. Giving Pages in Draft or Archived status do not display sharing options.
Giving Page Link
The "Giving Page Link" is the direct URL for the published Online Giving Form. This link opens the standalone donor-facing Giving Page and can be shared anywhere your organization would normally use a web link.
Click "Copy Web Link" to copy the URL. You can then add the link to email buttons, social media posts, your organization’s website, digital newsletters, event communications, or other outreach. Each Giving Page has its own unique URL. If the Giving Page is later edited, the same link will continue to open the updated version of the page.
If a published Giving Page is temporarily disabled using "Disable This Page and Show a Custom Message", the existing link remains active but displays the custom disabled-page message instead of allowing a new Gift. If the Giving Page is Archived, visitors using the old link are redirected to your organization’s Default Giving Page.
QR Code
The "QR Code" option provides a scannable version of the Giving Page link that can be used in both print and digital materials. When a donor scans the QR code using a supported mobile device, the Giving Page opens in their browser.
Click "Download QR Code" to save the image. The QR code can then be added to items such as event signage, printed appeals, newsletters, stickers, or social media graphics.
Because the QR code points to the Giving Page URL, you don't need to replace the code when you update the content or settings on that Giving Page. As long as the page itself remains available at the same URL, the existing QR code will continue to direct donors to it.
Text-to-Donate
If a Text-to-Donate keyword has been configured for the Giving Page, the "Sharing" section also provides the information needed to promote it. This includes the Giving Page keyword and your organization’s DonorDock phone number.
The "Copy Keyword" option can be used to copy the configured Text-to-Donate keyword. Your DonorDock phone number can also be copied from the Sharing section or viewed from the text messaging area in DonorDock.
When a supporter texts the exact keyword to your DonorDock phone number, DonorDock automatically sends the Text-to-Donate response configured on the Giving Page along with a link to the page. This can be useful at events, in presentations, on printed materials, or anywhere a short keyword is easier to share than a full web address.
Website Embed
The "Website Embed" options allow the Online Giving Form to appear directly on a page of your organization’s website instead of requiring donors to leave your site and open the standalone DonorDock Giving Page.
DonorDock provides two types of embed code for a published Giving Page: a Script Embed Code and an Iframe Embed Code. Both display the same Giving Page and continue using the settings saved in DonorDock, but they use different methods to place the form on your website.
Script Embed Code
The "Script Embed Code" uses JavaScript to load the DonorDock Giving Page into the location where the code is placed on your website. This is generally the preferred option when your website platform allows custom script code.
To use this option, copy the "Script Embed Code" from the Giving Page Sharing section and paste it into an area of your website that accepts custom HTML or JavaScript.
Some website builders restrict or remove JavaScript added through standard content blocks. If your website platform does not allow the Script Embed Code, you can use the Iframe embed code instead.
Iframe Embed Code
The "Iframe Embed Code" places the standalone DonorDock Giving Page inside an iframe, which is a separate webpage displayed within a defined area of your website.
Many website builders support iframes, which can be useful when a platform doesn't allow custom JavaScript. To use this option, copy the "Iframe Embed Code" and paste it into an HTML, embed, or iframe block provided by your website platform.
Which Embed Code Should I Use?
The best option depends primarily on what your website platform allows. If your site supports custom JavaScript, the Script Embed Code can be used. If scripts are restricted or your website builder specifically provides an iframe or embed block, use the Iframe Embed Code instead.
If you are unsure which type your website supports, check the documentation for your website platform or work with the person who manages your website.
Common platforms such as WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, and Weebly offer options for adding custom or embedded content, although the exact steps and supported code types vary by platform.
Updating an Embedded Giving Page
Once either type of embed code has been added to your website, you generally do not need to replace the code when you make normal updates to the Giving Page. The embed continues pointing to the same DonorDock page, so changes to messaging, amounts, branding, tracking, or other Giving Page settings will appear in the embedded version after those changes are saved in DonorDock.
This also means you can continue to manage the Giving Page from DonorDock without editing the website every time the form changes.
Digital Wallets on Embedded Giving Pages
Embedded Giving Pages can support available Stripe digital wallet options, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, but availability depends on the donor’s device, browser, payment setup, and Stripe requirements.
For Apple Pay and other supported wallet functionality on an embedded Giving Page, your website domain may need to be registered with Stripe. Complete domain registration through your organization’s Stripe account under the payment method domain settings.
If a digital wallet is not available for the donor’s current device, browser, location, or Stripe configuration, that payment option will not appear on the Giving Page.
Test an Embedded Giving Page
After adding the embed code to your website, review the published webpage to make sure the Giving Page displays correctly within the available space. It is also helpful to review the page on both desktop and mobile devices, especially if your website applies different layouts at different screen sizes.
The embedded form should allow donors to move through the same giving process as the standalone Giving Page. If the form appears cut off, unusually narrow, or otherwise does not display correctly, the website’s embed container or page layout may need to be adjusted within your website platform.
Sharing Draft, Disabled, and Archived Pages
Giving Page Status | Sharing Behavior |
|---|---|
Draft | Sharing options are not available because the Giving Page has not yet been published. |
Published | The direct link, QR code, Text-to-Donate information, and embed code are available from the "Sharing" section. |
Published and Disabled | Existing links, QR codes, and embeds remain connected to the Giving Page, but visitors see the custom disabled-page content instead of the payment form. |
Archived | The "Sharing" section is no longer available, and visitors using the previous Giving Page URL are redirected to the organization’s Default Giving Page. |
