Setting Up Your DonorDock Text Number and A2P 10DLC Registration

Your organization needs a DonorDock Text Number before using texting tools in DonorDock. This is a text-only SMS phone number assigned to your entire DonorDock organization account.

Any text message sent through DonorDock will come from this shared Text Number, regardless of which team member is selected as the sender on the activity. DonorDock records the selected team member for activity tracking, but the contact will always see your organization's DonorDock Text Number.

Once the number is assigned, you can immediately configure Text-to-Donate keywords on your Giving Pages.

To send bulk texts or use individual Text Conversations, your organization must also complete A2P 10DLC registration. This carrier registration identifies your organization and how you plan to use text messaging, helping mobile carriers recognize your messages as legitimate application-to-person communication.

A2P 10DLC Registration

A2P 10DLC stands for Application-to-Person 10 Digit Long Code. This carrier registration process is used when an application such as DonorDock sends text messages through a standard 10-digit phone number.

Registration identifies:

  • Your organization, through Brand Registration

  • How your organization will use texting, through Use Case Registration

Carrier registration helps reduce spam and fraudulent messaging and improves trust and deliverability across mobile networks.

Start A2P 10DLC Registration

  1. Navigate to Outreach > Texting.

  2. Select Bulk Texts or Conversations.

  3. Click the blue banner on the page to enter texting registration

  4. Confirm that your assigned phone number shows as completed.

  5. Click Start Registration.

  6. Confirm your organization's Tax ID Number.

  7. Confirm or enter your organization's address and website.

  8. Select an authorized representative from your DonorDock team.

  9. Select the appropriate registration option and confirm the registration terms.

  10. Continue to checkout and submit payment for the carrier registration fee.

💡 The authorized representative must be a team member on your DonorDock account. If the appropriate person is not listed, an administrator can add them under Settings Menu > Manage Your Team.

Brand Registration

Brand Registration tells the carrier networks which organization is associated with the phone number. After you submit registration, DonorDock will display the status on the Phone Registration page. A green checkmark will appear once Brand Registration is approved. Brand Registration is often processed relatively quickly, but carrier approval times may vary.

Use Case Registration

After Brand Registration is approved, DonorDock submits your texting use case to the carrier networks. In most cases, this process begins automatically. If it does not, a Register Use Case button will appear on the Phone Registration page.

DonorDock uses Twilio SendGrid to power both texting and email communications. Your A2P registration is submitted through Twilio SendGrid, which then forwards your Brand and Campaign information to The Campaign Registry (TCR). TCR serves as the central hub for U.S. mobile carriers.

TCR reviews and validates your brand, assigns a trust score, and then sends your campaign details to the mobile carriers (such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon) for final approval. The carriers review your use case, sample messages, and opt-in process to ensure compliance with federal requirements. Once the carriers approve your campaign, your phone numbers will be fully registered and able to send A2P messages.

Check Registration Status

You may check your registration status at any time by navigating to: Outreach > Texting > Bulk Texts or Outreach > Texting > Conversations
