Merging Campaigns, Appeals, and Funds

If duplicate Campaigns, Appeals, or Funds are created in DonorDock, you can merge two records together from the applicable Transactions table.

When records are merged, you choose which record you want to keep. Gifts and Activities connected to the other record are moved to the retained record, and the duplicate record is archived.

Before You Merge

Campaigns, Appeals, and Funds can only be merged while viewing records with the same status.

You can merge records from the:

  • Active view

  • Archived view

The Merge option is not available in the All view because it can contain both active and archived records. This helps prevent accidentally merging an active record with an archived record.

Merge Two Campaigns
  1. Navigate to Transactions > Campaigns.

  2. Make sure you are viewing either Active or Archived Campaigns.

  3. Select the checkboxes next to the two Campaigns you want to merge.

  4. Click the Merge action in the top right.

  5. In the confirmation window, select the Campaign you want to keep.

  6. Confirm the merge.

All Gifts and Activities associated with the Campaign that is not retained will be transferred to the Campaign you selected. The other Campaign will be archived.

Merge Two Appeals
  1. Navigate to Transactions > Appeals.

  2. Make sure you are viewing either Active or Archived Appeals.

  3. Select the checkboxes next to the two Appeals you want to merge.

  4. Click the Merge action in the top right.

  5. In the confirmation window, select the Appeal you want to keep.

  6. Confirm the merge.

All Gifts and Activities associated with the Appeal that is not retained will be transferred to the Appeal you selected. The other Appeal will be archived.

Merge Two Funds
  1. Navigate to Transactions > Funds.

  2. Make sure you are viewing either Active or Archived Funds.

  3. Select the checkboxes next to the two Funds you want to merge.

  4. Click the Merge action in the top right.

  5. In the confirmation window, select the Fund you want to keep.

  6. Confirm the merge.

All Gifts and Activities associated with the Fund that is not retained will be transferred to the Fund you selected. The other Fund will be archived.

What Happens After a Merge?

After the merge is complete:

  • The record you selected to keep remains available.

  • Connected Gifts and Activities are moved to the retained record.

  • The duplicate record is archived rather than permanently deleted.

  • Future reporting will use the retained Campaign, Appeal, or Fund for the transferred records.
