GoFundMe Pro and DonorDock Integration

GoFundMe Pro, formerly known as Classy, is an online fundraising platform designed for nonprofit organizations. Organizations can use GoFundMe Pro to manage donation pages, crowdfunding campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising, recurring giving, ticketed events, and other fundraising activities.

The GoFundMe Pro integration brings fundraising information into DonorDock so your donor records, campaigns, funds, gifts, recurring plans, and optional event attendance information can be managed alongside the rest of your fundraising data.

The integration is one-way from GoFundMe Pro to DonorDock. Changes made in DonorDock are not sent back to GoFundMe Pro.

Connect GoFundMe Pro to DonorDock

Setting up the integration has two main parts:

  1. Create API credentials in GoFundMe Pro.

  2. Enter those credentials and configure the integration in DonorDock.

Obtain your GoFundMe Pro API credentials

You will need three values from GoFundMe Pro:

  • Tenant ID, which identifies your GoFundMe Pro organization

  • Client ID

  • Client Secret

To create the credentials:

  1. Log in to your GoFundMe Pro account.

  2. Navigate to Apps and Extensions.

  3. Select GoFundMe Pro API.

  4. Create a new app named DonorDock.

  5. For the authorization redirect, enter:
    https://donordock.com

  6. Click Create App.

  7. Open the new app and copy the Client ID and Client Secret.

  8. Locate your GoFundMe Pro Tenant ID, also called your organization ID. This can typically be found in the URL while you are signed in to your GoFundMe Pro administration area. For example, in https://www.classy.org/admin/12345/activity, the Tenant ID is 12345.

Enter your credentials in DonorDock

Once you have gathered your GoFundMe Pro information using the steps above, log in to DonorDock and follow the steps below to connect the integration.

  1. Log in to DonorDock.

  2. Open the Settings menu.

  3. Select Integrations.

  4. Locate the GoFundMe Pro integration and click Connect.

  5. Enter your:

    • Tenant ID

    • Client ID

    • Client Secret

  6. Turn on Enabled to activate the integration.

  7. Configure any additional integration settings described below.

  8. Click Save.

Once the integration is saved and enabled, the first sync begins automatically. GoFundMe Pro then syncs with DonorDock every hour at approximately five minutes after the hour. Manual or on-demand GoFundMe Pro syncing is not currently supported.

Configuring the GoFundMe Pro integration

The GoFundMe Pro integration includes several settings that control how information is synced.

Sync From

The Sync From setting controls the point DonorDock uses when determining which GoFundMe Pro records should be reviewed during a sync.

If no previous sync point exists, the first sync reviews the available GoFundMe Pro history. After that, DonorDock uses overlapping sync windows and periodic larger lookback periods to help catch records that may not have been returned during an earlier sync.

Sync Event Attendees

Turn on Sync Event Attendees if you want GoFundMe Pro event registrations to create Event Attendance activities in DonorDock.

This setting is off by default.

Because attendee information is matched differently from standard supporter and gift information, enabling this option may result in duplicate contacts when the same person is represented differently in GoFundMe Pro. DonorDock's duplicate management tools can be used to review and merge those contacts when needed.

Disable Opt-In/Opt-Out Mapping

By default, communication preferences from GoFundMe Pro are applied to matching DonorDock contacts.

When a GoFundMe Pro supporter has:

GoFundMe Pro preference

DonorDock result

Opted in

Do Not Solicit = No; Unsubscribed = No

Opted out

Do Not Solicit = Yes; Unsubscribed = Yes

No opt-in value

Existing DonorDock settings remain unchanged

If you prefer to manage communication preferences independently in DonorDock:

  1. Open Settings > Integrations.

  2. Select GoFundMe Pro.

  3. Click Configure.

  4. Turn on Disable Opt-In/Opt-Out Mapping.

  5. Click Save.

When this setting is enabled, GoFundMe Pro opt-in information will not change the contact's Do Not Solicit or Unsubscribed status in DonorDock.

Opt-in mapping is also not applied from offline GoFundMe Pro transactions.

Custom Giving Page Domains

If your organization uses custom domains for GoFundMe Pro giving pages, those domains can also be added to the integration configuration.

DonorDock can use these domains when adding tracking information to links included in bulk or group emails. This allows gifts made through supported GoFundMe Pro pages to be attributed back to the DonorDock email when the appropriate tracking information is returned.

To add custom giving page domains:

  1. Open Settings > Integrations.

  2. Select GoFundMe Pro.

  3. Click Configure.

  4. In the domain box, type in your domain of your custom gift domain

  5. Click Add.

How the GoFundMe Pro Integration Works

The GoFundMe Pro integration processes information in a specific order so related records can be connected as they enter DonorDock.

The integration can sync:

  • GoFundMe Pro designations as Funds

  • GoFundMe Pro campaigns as Campaigns

  • GoFundMe Pro supporters as Contacts

  • Successful transactions as Gifts

  • Recurring donation plans as Recurring Plans

  • Event registrations as Event Attendance activities, when enabled

  • Refunds as updates to previously synced Gifts

  • GoFundMe Pro payouts for payout and deposit tracking

Funds

GoFundMe Pro Designations are synced to DonorDock as Funds.

How Funds are matched

When DonorDock receives a designation from GoFundMe Pro, it checks for a matching Fund in this order:

  1. A Fund with the same GoFundMe Pro designation ID that was previously synced from GoFundMe Pro.

  2. A Fund with the same name. Name matching is not case-sensitive.

  3. If neither match is found, DonorDock creates a new Fund.

If an existing Fund is matched by name, DonorDock connects that Fund to the GoFundMe Pro integration and records GoFundMe Pro as its source.

Campaigns

GoFundMe Pro campaigns are synced as DonorDock Campaigns.

How Campaigns are matched

DonorDock checks for a matching Campaign in this order:

  1. A Campaign with the same GoFundMe Pro campaign ID that was previously synced from GoFundMe Pro.

  2. A Campaign with the same name. Name matching is not case-sensitive.

  3. If no match is found, a new Campaign is created.

Contacts

GoFundMe Pro Supporters are synced as DonorDock Contacts.

How Supporters are matched to Contacts

DonorDock checks active Contacts in this order:

  1. The GoFundMe Pro member ID matches the GoFundMe Pro ID already stored on the DonorDock Contact.

  2. The GoFundMe Pro email address matches the Contact's:

    • Primary Email

    • Secondary Email

    • Spouse Email

  3. If no match is found, DonorDock creates a new Contact.

New Contacts created from the supporter sync are assigned to the organization's default contact owner and receive the GoFundMe Pro Supporter badge.

Gifts

Successful GoFundMe Pro transactions are synced to DonorDock as Gifts.

A single GoFundMe Pro transaction can contain multiple transaction items. DonorDock creates one Gift for each transaction item.

For example, if a transaction contains both a donation and an event registration, those items can become separate Gift records in DonorDock.

How Gifts are matched

DonorDock first looks for a previously synced Gift using the GoFundMe Pro transaction item's ID.

For Gifts created by older versions of the integration, DonorDock can also match against the overall GoFundMe Pro transaction ID. This allows existing integration records to continue updating rather than being duplicated.

How the Contact for a Gift is matched

When processing a transaction, DonorDock checks active Contacts in this order:

  1. The transaction's GoFundMe Pro member ID matches the GoFundMe Pro ID already stored on the Contact.

  2. The transaction's member email matches the Contact's:

    • Primary Email

    • Secondary Email

    • Spouse Email

  3. The transaction's billing address matches the Contact's Address 1 and the billing last name matches the Contact's Last Name.

  4. The transaction's company name matches a Contact's Organization Name.

  5. If no match is found, DonorDock creates a new Contact.

When a Contact is matched by email, DonorDock records the GoFundMe Pro member ID on that Contact for future matching.

Contacts created from transactions

If a new Contact must be created from a transaction, DonorDock can use the following information:

If the transaction includes a company name but no billing first name, billing last name, or email address, DonorDock creates an Organization Contact. Otherwise, the Contact is created as an Individual.

When an individual transaction does not include a last name, DonorDock may use Unknown Classy Supporter as the last name.

A Contact created directly from a transaction does not initially receive the GoFundMe Pro member ID. If a later gift matches the Contact by email, that member ID is then recorded for future matching.

Campaign, Fund, and Appeal Matching on Gifts

When a Gift references a GoFundMe Pro Campaign or Designation, DonorDock first tries to find an existing integration record. If one does not exist, DonorDock retrieves the GoFundMe Pro record and attempts to match an active DonorDock record by exact name. If a match still cannot be found, the Campaign or Fund is created.

Campaign

Campaign matching uses:

  1. GoFundMe Pro Campaign ID

  2. Exact Campaign Name

  3. Create a new Campaign

If the transaction does not include a campaign ID, no Campaign is assigned.

Fund

Fund matching uses:

  1. GoFundMe Pro Designation ID

  2. Exact Fund Name

  3. Create a new Fund

If the transaction does not include a designation, no Fund is assigned.

Appeal

Appeals are resolved differently.

DonorDock checks:

  1. DonorDock tracking information returned through GoFundMe Pro. If the transaction contains a DonorDock Appeal ID in its tracking codes, that Appeal is used.

  2. For peer-to-peer fundraising, the GoFundMe Pro fundraising team ID is matched to a DonorDock Appeal previously created from GoFundMe Pro.

  3. If no matching Appeal exists, DonorDock can create an Appeal from the GoFundMe Pro fundraising team and associate it with the Gift's Campaign.

Individual peer-to-peer fundraising pages are not mapped to DonorDock Appeals.

Recurring Gifts and Frequency

GoFundMe Pro transaction frequency determines whether the Gift is treated as recurring and, when supported by DonorDock, its recurrence interval.

Recurring Donation Plans

GoFundMe Pro recurring donation plans are also synced to DonorDock as Recurring Plans.

Recurring Plans are separate from the individual Gifts created when recurring transactions are processed. Gifts are not directly linked to their GoFundMe Pro Recurring Plan in DonorDock.

How Recurring Plans are matched

DonorDock first looks for an existing Recurring Plan with the same GoFundMe Pro plan ID.

If the plan does not already exist, DonorDock identifies the Contact in this order:

  1. GoFundMe Pro member ID

  2. Email, Secondary Email, or Spouse Email

  3. Address and Last Name

  4. Company Name and Organization Name

  5. If no match is found, create a new Contact

Only active Contacts are considered when matching a Recurring Plan.

GoFundMe Pro frequencies are translated as follows:

  • Monthly → Monthly

  • Quarterly → Quarterly

  • Weekly → Weekly

  • Yearly → Annual

  • Other frequencies → Monthly

An Active GoFundMe Pro plan becomes an Active Recurring Plan. Ended, canceled, paused, and other non-active plans become Inactive.

Recurring donor status

Recurring Plans can also update the Contact's recurring donor status.

When an active plan is created or updated, DonorDock can mark the Contact as a Recurring Donor. This can trigger DonorDock's Recurring Donor automation trigger.

When a plan becomes inactive, DonorDock checks whether the Contact has another active recurring plan. If no other active plan exists, DonorDock removes the recurring donor status. This can trigger the Recurring Donor Canceled automation trigger.

Event Attendance

When Sync Event Attendees is enabled, GoFundMe Pro registrations with an attending status are synced to DonorDock as Event Attendance activities.

How Event Registrations are matched

DonorDock first looks for an existing Activity with the same GoFundMe Pro registration ID.

To determine which Contact the registration belongs to, DonorDock looks for a Contact where all three of the following match:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email Address

Unlike standard supporter and gift matching, this event registration match can use a Contact regardless of its existing Source or Status.

If no matching Contact is found, DonorDock creates a new Prospect Contact using the attendee's information and adds the GoFundMe Pro Supporter badge.

Refunds

GoFundMe Pro refunded transactions are reviewed separately from successful transactions.

DonorDock attempts to locate the original Gift using the GoFundMe Pro transaction item ID, transaction ID, or transaction ID stored as the Payment ID.

When a matching Gift is found, the Gift is updated and its Status is changed to Cancelled.

If DonorDock cannot find a matching Gift for the refund, no new Gift is created.

Payout Tracking

DonorDock can also retrieve payout information from GoFundMe Pro for both Stripe and PayPal payouts.

By default, DonorDock creates a payout record containing information such as:

  • Payout Date

  • Amount

  • Currency

  • Fees

  • Net Amount

  • Number of Gifts

Matching Gifts are stamped with the GoFundMe Pro payout ID. DonorDock also adds the payout date as the Gift's Deposit Date when the Gift does not already have a Deposit Date.

GoFundMe Pro payouts with QuickBooks Online

If your DonorDock QuickBooks Online integration is configured to process payouts as batches, payout processing is handled through the QuickBooks Online integration instead.

In this configuration, DonorDock can create a Gift Batch for each GoFundMe Pro payout. Depending on the payout information, the batch can include matching Gifts, refunds, and an optional negative fee Gift before the batch is closed.

Gift Tags

Every Gift synced through the integration receives the GoFundMe Pro Transaction Gift Tag.

An additional Gift Tag is applied based on the GoFundMe Pro campaign type.

Integration History

You can review recent GoFundMe Pro sync activity directly from the integration page.

Navigate to: Settings > Integrations > GoFundMe Pro

The integration history records information about records that were inserted, updated, skipped, or encountered an error during synchronization. This can help you confirm that data is syncing and investigate individual records when something did not sync as expected.

A problem with one individual record does not necessarily prevent the remaining GoFundMe Pro records from syncing.
